standing atop a mountain cliff

crimson scales glistening in the dawn light

gold-flecked eyes, an expression of happiness

wings spread, buffeting in the wind

horns deep-black like polished obsidian

a long, fan-tipped tail swaying in satisfaction

turning around, giving the warmest of smiles

hair whipping in the wind, reaching a hand out

to me, her other self

"come on, spread your wings"

I reach out at my smiling reflection

and the difference between us vanishes

alter ego dissolves and becomes ego

for all along, she was the truer me,

and I spread my new wings and smile

for I finally know myself

this one is still maybe my fave of the poems I've done

it's very autobiographical. I made a dragon sona as a secondary one for fun and then

That makes sense. For me, I guess I just always felt kind of a special affinity towards my hair, ever since I was a kid. It was one of the only parts of my appearance I really cared about, and I liked that it was longer than average. Kinda considered it to be “my thing”. I got much more creative about what “my thing” was later, though
