digging back into iain banks's Culture series—i devoured The Player of Games on a flight and just now got through enough of Use of Weapons to know that i'm going to like it. it's incredible how much tighter and more well-structured both of these books are than Consider Phlebas, which was just... sort of a mess? i dunno, i didn't care for that book much. definitely skip it on a first read. but DO read the others!
