i don't know who needs to hear this, but even if you merely retexture your avatar for Furality Umbra a little bit (or just slap the shader on), you're probably still going to be more dressed for the occasion than a large swath of creatures attending.

I totally get that. The UI for Umbra is a bit of a hot mess to navigate admittedly.

If it helps, if you've already made Sylva shader stuff, you should be able to duplicate that shader and change it over to Umbra and most stuff might port over (not all).

The main thing that's annoying is that it requires a bunch of maps which I never bothered to make because the global slider was good enough previously (but there's no global slider).

It makes it feel like it's only intended to be used by folks who have done a full PBR setup using Substance Painter or something.

do it....... join the obnoxious side.... it made my avatars look so good (and i was able to generate a 5k polygon fallback that looks better than it has any right to)

all i needed was a pirated copy of substance painter and to make my computer very hot for some time

Unfortunately I do my work on a Mac where the Substance DRM is significantly harder to break, as far as I can tell. Also I'm ideologically opposed to the idea of "supporting" Adobe in any way, including by relying on them even if I'm not paying for it.

If I do a proper PBR setup it'll be through psdlayers or ucupaint or something. The annoying thing with that, though, is that Blender doesn't make it particularly easy to have multiple texturing setups that you can switch between, it wants you to use this weird "linked library" thing that I super don't trust.
