Giving System Shock 1 another shot and remembering how much I love its technical, maximalist, mouse-heavy interface. Just an awe-inspiring amount of granular control. This game wants you to touch everything.
I love discovering little bespoke widgets on my equipment—realising I can tweak the power consumption of my laser gun, or the timer on a nitro pack. It's the sort of thing that even other immersive sims would probably shy away from because 'we don't have a button for that'. But you don't need one here!
You don't 'get past' the interface to get to the game. The interface is the game.
