seeing trains being introduced must've been so cool. you watch a bunch of big metal rails being laid down and you're like "what could possibly necessitate this?" and someone has to explain to you that they figured out a way to put a steam boiler on wheels that can move itself around (but also it's the heaviest thing in the world and it screams constantly)
