You know what's actually fucked up?

I think I'm growing to like Quake II's bunnyhopping.

It doesn't have the same rhythmic quality as Quake's, and it's not nearly as controllable, but that's... kind of why it's fun? You sort of line yourself up and do a little twist and just fling yourself in a big gentle bouncy arc. Like skipping a stone, except you are the stone.

It makes me wonder if it was an influencing factor in the design of levels like Q2DM1, with its big smooth curving walls that you could just graze along. Or at the very least, part of the reason it became popular.

A version of the sickos meme, but the guy through the window has been replaced with a cat.
it is very addictive! Funnily enough the strafe-jumping came out of an attempt to nerf bunnyhopping. id were trying to decrease the the amount of teching to make the MP a little more friendly to newbies.
