I wonder if there's a common standard that foley artists refer to when deciding what onomatopoeia to describe a sound with. How do you determine if something's a clink, or a clang, or a rattle, or a wobble, or a whoosh, or

based on my experience with the terminology people use for sound design in the world of music production my guess would be: absolutely not
If there is and it is not called the foley-o then what are we even doing
on Bio2 one of our sound designers described a particular set of groaning metal sounds as "ronks" and all the files were named that and it all sounded very specific and official. and then i mentioned "ronk" to one of the other sound designers who was like "haha yeah i guess it does kinda sound like 'ronk', i get it now"
