Calls to mind the Clockwork Mansion of Dishonored 2, and also the "Ryan Amusement" themepark level in Bioshock 2. Not quite the same--you don't see any monster closets--but you do get a sense of peeking behind the stage and seeing the mechanisms underlying the artifice.
