Friends and bittersweet rivals: in the upcoming weeks I will be spending a few brief days in Adelaide and Melbourne. Please let me know if you wish to arrange to hang out and/or enact a cruel, justified vengeance upon me.

Quantum of Solace for the Wii uses a slowly tightening version of the Bond 'staring down a gun barrel' effect to represent how close you are to death, and I actually think this idea is pretty cool in a thematic cohesion sort of way, but,

I can't help wondering how many people stood up and asked if giving the player worse peripheral vision when they're under attack was a good idea

I have a real problem with maps (like, the geography kind) where I'll be planning a normal journey like a grown-up, and then—without any awareness of the mental gear-shift that has occurred—start panning and zooming around everywhere for twenty minutes like "oh wow, this train station is huge", "look at this fucked up intersection, oh I hate this", "no way, people live out here?" etc etc.
