i've held for a long time that i like online text communication because the requirement of an immediately reply isn't as urgent as in real life, leading to hopefully more well-formulated thoughts. sure, some messages need a response soon, but even the extra 30 seconds it takes to type out a message helps form it in my head, and i self edit before sending, which is something i don't get to do irl.
eventually this turned from "text communication works better with my brain" to "i think text communication works with my brain the way normal communication works with others" and i literally cannot think at the speed of conversation. so while i'm racking my mind for something to say everyone else is going off and even if i could get a word in edgewise there isn't a word there. when i get the words we're off on three tangents over.
i guess a similar thing happens when in a group chat some people are excitedly talking about something and scrolls the chat super fast and i just can't process all that.
and either my brain is just like that or i trained it that way accidentally from years of mainly interacting online whoops
