take notes, car manufacturers

No, I do not want to have to interact with a touchscreen to perform any and every operation possible on a car. Having simple, intuitive, and responsive interfaces for things is important, but even more so when you're operating a car and any fidgeting with a screen takes away time spent focusing on the act of driving itself. Nobody wants to gamble on proprietary, clunky software and mediocre hardware to replace already valid solutions to A/C and Volume controls. You could probably make a "dumb" car that has no computer whatsoever and have a waitlist for it spanning years. In concept, it's great that car information and diagnostics can be accessed through a touchscreen, but these operating systems feel like they've been made by a web designer from the early 2000s thats been summoned through a time machine. It makes me wonder if the people approving these systems to be deployed have even used them.
