Anonymous User asked:

as visual quality begins to plateau how do you think the next generation of consoles will sell themselves?

Visual quality plateaued in my eyes at some point in the early 2010s and we've already seen how consoles intend to sell themselves. Gradual, minor improvements to the services offered by consoles through things like Game Pass and PlayStation Plus for example, with both of those platforms offering some form of "Netflix for games" type library, and massive AAA and now AAAA games that take an entire console cycle to develop for minimal, incremental improvements on the previous console's title.

Did you know that the market for both PlayStation and Xbox has stayed stagnant since 2010 and in spite of market shares shifting, their consoles are still selling to the same 150 million or so people worldwide? I find that kind of interesting.

Edit - rather than burying the lede in the tags I'll add this here. Nintendo are probably going to keep up the single-platform hybrid thing going into the near future but I doubt that their theoretical "Switch 2" will just be a specs bump, it will no doubt offer SOMETHING new to differentiate itself from the previous hardware and this will either not impact the fact Nintendo has effectively monopolised the market of people who aren't 13-35 year old straight white dudes, or it'll be an idea so bad it becomes Wii U 2.
