Buying one of those inexpensive 245,400 games in 1 DS cards that's just an R4 clone in the hopes of it being a fun sunday afternoon project to turn it into a remotely useful/usable flashcart. I have no reason to since I have a much better DS flashcart but also WHY NOT.

They pretty much just work, in fact. I've got a small pile of various DS flashcarts because they can all be had for a few bucks each
I know a bunch of them have time-bombs in the default firmware, but that's hardly unfixable so hey, it'll be nice to have a backup for when my Supercard DSTwo finally gives up the ghost.
I wanna say the ones sold as combo carts do not? But I don't remember if I had to swap the firmware or not.
I want, or wanted, to have a small collection of modded DSis ready to go to just, hand out to friends that wanted stuff to play. (Although the DSi can just be softmodded anyway)
I basically consider the DS to be the best console ever made, and I think everyone should have one.
I have like 10 DS family handhelds (and a dozen 3DS family handhelds on top of that) because they're just so damn nice to have and collect. There's a ridiculous number of nice colourways, particularly on the DSi and DSi XL, so it's hard to not buy them when I see them at a good price.
But in terms of sheer quality and breadth of games, hell yeah, the DS is arguably the best handheld ever made, if not the greatest console of all time. I know the PS2 gets that title in a lot of popular retro circles, but I'm more than happy to disagree.
Bomberman DS had... I think eight player download play. Pretty sure Custom Battler Bomberman (AKA Bomberman 2 in Europe) also had the same download play options which is insane.
