In my opinion, the worst interchange I've ever laid eyes on is the junction between the New Jersey Turnpike, Interstates 78 and 95, US Route 1-9, NJ State Routes 21, 22, 27 and 81, and various local streets and connecting ramps between each other and Newark International Airport.
Absolute hell. Constant traffic. Anyone could get lost in there. Not only that, but various interchanges are way overbuilt, such as the ramps connecting Interstate 78 to Runyon Street or the ramp stubs off US Route 22, all of which hint at abandoned plans to further flesh out this absolute monstrosity. I have good reason to believe this mess is at least part of the reason why Newark Airport is the butt of so many jokes.
the I90 and I93 spaghetti just before the tunnel is a fun place that is good to visit with your car
This is what you see when you enter I-5 South in Seattle from the 520 bridge. Those green signs up ahead? If you want to exit on Mercer Street (which, in addition to being a major artery, is also the posted route to the Seattle Center and Space Needle and several other tourist attractions), those signs are your first notice that you have less than a mile to merge to the right four times. Good luck.
does this even count as one interchange? i dunno, i've only been near it for a single weekend (it's within spitting distance of the convention center that holds TFF, which i went to this month, and which ruled) but being in the car as my friend drove on some of it just felt viscerally awful. on the other hand, maybe posting dallas is cheating
