i remember going "wow those look uncomfortably small" and no one else really thinking it was a problem (it was) (yeah you can make the argument its designed for kids but the reveal was very specifically marketed towards like, 20somethings/maybe late teens)

I do think that the ability to play with your arms separate in a natural lounging position is extremely comfortable, though. I want something like the joycons but with much better ergonomics specifically designed for playing with your hands apart. And admittedly the option to always have two players is pretty handy.

It's like, they made a bunch of cool nifty features at the expense of making it just kinda bad to hold.

yeah. i've always really wanted something like the "wiimote+nunchuk combination, but better / more in line with what's expected of a generalized gamepad" and it continues to surprise me no one has gone for it
