i hope css felonies inspire people to go make a website. or go make anything, really. we took something designed for text size and background colors and made... whatever we wanted.

cohost didn't really make any of this possible, either. all of it was already possible. cohost just decided not to block it like most platforms do.

imagine what's possible if you're not constrained to the boundaries of a Post. or if you can sprinkle in a little javascript. like, lexy's labyrinth doesn't use an off-the-shelf game engine — in fact the only code i didn't write is in two utility libraries — it's just a canvas i blit sprites onto. you can do that, too.

in reply to @lexyeevee's post:

oh yeah definitely don't use js unless you actually need it. some of us browse the web with js off and every blank white page brings me closer to becoming the joker. but if you want to make something genuinely interactive then you probably want js instead of five hundred nested <details>

I figured for the majority of the web it's no longer possible to browse without JS, so I leave it on and depend on uBO to stop the bullshit ones so pages at least load fast...

Fuck JQuery in particular tho. Every StackOverflow question on how to do something on a website has a JQuery answer. It's a meme at this point.
