im really limited on the types of multiplayer games i can play because of my motion sickness issues. i'd like to be able to play more games with friends, but i can barely handle how the camera moves in soulslike games sometimes, im kind of plumb out of luck unless i find some really niche games like chronicles of mystara to play.

if anyone out there has any recs for multiplayer games where the games are not first person or the camera control is not vital to the game, i'd love some to suggest to pals. resist suggesting mmos if possible, they're not a genre i frequent a lot.

in reply to @orchidrabbit's post:

Terraria, Stardew Valley, Don't Starve Together, and Divinity: Original Sin 2 immediately come to mind, but are all popular enough that I imagine most people who haven't already played them are at least aware of them, so maybe those aren't helpful recs.

Heave Ho, Sundered: Eldritch Edition, Moving Out and Overcooked are some weirder picks that come to mind, and iirc all of them have remote play together on steam so only one person needs to own them.

If you and your friends are willing to do a little fiddling, there's also a surprising number of single-player games that have really good multiplayer mods -- I've had a lot of fun playing stuff like Slay the Spire or Mario Sunshine or Pikmin 2 with multiplayer mods. There's even weirder stuff like multiworld randomizers (archipelago, for example), that my friends and I have had a lot of fun messing with.

Bit of a scattershot response, but idk what you and your friends are into lol, hopefully at least one of these suggestions is a good fit

The whole Overcooked chaos co-op style is probably really good for this. Includes also Plate Up, Spacelines From The Far Out, Witchtastic, Moving Out, Key We, Tools Up!, Unrailed, Witchtastic. Also Lumberhill and Catastronauts, but I didn't like those.

In a similar vein, but different vibe - Gauntlet and Helldivers 1, and maybe Risk of Rain 1 for doing co-op shooters, but from the top/side.

And finally Wildermyth is cool; Ultimate Chicken Horse if you wanna get nasty at each other; The Yawhg, Fhtagn, Monster Prom, Monter Camp for semi randomized stories; AI War 1 and 2 for some asymmetrical co-op strategy.

For lighter party game style stuff my group likes the Jackbox games (any of them, really) and Nerts! Online. I also want to second Risk of Rain (2013), it's good chaotic fun and relatively inexpensive.
