so this is a useful thing you can do with google where even if you only kind of know what something is called, or have the name slightly wrong, or aren't sure if it actually exists, you can google it and it'll correct you. However. Sometimes it is wrong. There is a bird that is sometimes called the Australian crow, but it's not the Australian raven, it's the Torresian crow. This result gives the impression that Australia doesn't have crows, just ravens. Also weirdly if you google "torresian" you get exclusively the Torresian crow even though there are like, other birds with torresian in the name. Also there's a species of butterfly sometimes called the Australian crow too and you probably aren't trying to find that on google but it is interestng.
Anyway I've found it's a lot more helpful to try doing this on Wikipedia, thanks to its complex system of redirects and disambiguation pages and little "if you were thinking of the other birds called magpies, see this page" notes. Wait, there's a butterfly called "magpie" too? Why did they do that...
Also bonus cool Torresian Crow fact: some of them figured out how to eat cane toads (without being poisoned) and apparently transferred this knowledge socially!
