so, going many layers deep into dream worlds or like getting stuck in VR are common and related tropes but this is exactly what it's like to do stuff on an external server over the command line. It's very easy to lose track of how many layers of bash/zellij/ssh/su/screen I'm in (and then also get trapped inside screen). I think if I press control-D one too many times I'll wake up from the Matrix

so uh... anybody know any good alternative discord clients that support macOS 10.14? or some sort of workaround...

(maybe useful context: discord aggressively auto-updates, including apparently auto-updating to a version i literally can't run. Ideally for me any alt client would have the ability to do standard server moderation, create Events, join voice chat, and set the font to comic sans. Opening Discord in a safari window works but the font rendering is messed up for some reason)

seeking recommendations: personal offsite backup services

Some sort of service that you pay to keep storage space to which you periodically (probably automatically) upload the contents of your own computers to, such that you can then download everything later if it all goes horribly wrong. I have a macbook and windows machine I realise I would be truly devastated if I lost all the files on, so I figure this sort of thing makes sense. Unfortunately every backup service I can find looks...

extremely sketchy? So I'm hoping somebody here will have experience with backups and will be able to say like "no Backblaze is actually good even though it looks like That" or something. I'm happy with something techy (like buying general purpose cloud storage and running a free program that interfaces with it) if it ends up being cheaper, and all the storage I want to back up adds up to to a bit under 3TB.
