spice of life: carrot edition gives you extra permanent hearts based on how many different kinds of foods you eat so that tooltip is to just let you know you may eat it to get that benefit.
this is in stark contrast to the original version of the mod that simply punished you for not cycling between at least 25 different kinds of food with fun things like slowness and mining fatigue.
