the head of the town of pompeii

Bibby is turning out to be a big learning experience. You can discover new things by stepping out of your comfort zone, who knew! I'm (begrudgingly) starting to pay attention to topology instead of just Adding More Polygons.

I have unfortunately also formed opinions about zbrush:

  • Zmodeler might be the worst implementation of a basic low poly toolset I've seen but it's nice to have Something after zcore's Nothing.
  • The knife tool frequently causes the software to crash without any kind of warning/error message/backup save. So naturally you google if this is just your issue and it turns out that's just the way it is & has been for 3+ years. They sell this software for a thousand dollars.
  • There's a popular design ideology of making everything 'a thing' (functional programming, set theory, etc). In a similar vein Zbrush tries to make a bunch of wildly different tools 'brushes'. It sucks.
