the head of the town of pompeii

next thing in the works, might be cute as a posable figure? this was supposed to be some sort of armor practice but the design is a bit too organic for that. currently ten days in, hoping to wrap this up by the end of the week.

the golem is done & finally physical. this was printed with a mix of whatever random resin i had left over so it ended up with a particularly ugly half translucent finish. quickly covered up with the gray pictured. printer running on a nearly empty tank resulted in a big gash in the base.

took a quick & dirty one-part test print of ludwig. hair especially is going to need work but otherwise much more detail isn't going to show in the resin. also relieved to see that he stands on his own. (the sword is at a funny angle because i can't drill straight)
the saturn is notoriously picky about usb drives but after some trouble i managed to get an old sandisk stick to work with it. goodbye to the drive that came with the printer & to all the memory errors it caused. or at least i hope so. fingers crossed.

some work put into ludwig. need to settle on a design for the base to get on with the lower body.

basic idea for a base. current plan is to to put some kind of arc on top of the pillars to frame the main body.
garbage uvs courtesy of zbrush
turns out zbrush simply cannot do uv maps. even with the simplest low poly model polygons get distorted & you can't manually fix the map. had to launch blender to get the brickwork mapped cleanly onto the pillars.
