so a couple houses down from us there's one of those little free libraries, and i gotta say: having a tiny commons that i can drop books into and take books out of feels good! It's neat to see books I've read resurface as other folks finish them! And it's neat to discover gay novels from the 70s that I would have never stumbled across otherwise!
Seeing stacks of church fliers jammed in occaisonally is ... fine,
But still: as much as going to city council meetings and school board meetings might give me the sense that a lot of folks in my community are wingnut assholes, it's really heartening to see a small concrete thing that we can all build and maintain together. Feels like hope.
