Suicide Squad is a bad movie, but the sheer vitriol poured its way comes off as coming less from its actual mediocrity and more from the fact that its brand of retro-2000s edge basically appeared about six years too early to be seen as anything other than a "grimdark"-era relic. Being as harsh and abrasive as it was just a year after BvS gave everybody gritty-PTSD caused everybody and their mother to just reflexively shriek at it
