[no vestige of a beginning, no prospect of an end][writer investigating worlds that don't exist]

Grim Reaper

The one most familiar to the more sentient creatures and others more readily able to imagine death. Often times depicted as a skeletal figure in black robes with a scythe, though interpretations may vary across cultures and religions.

Nightshade

Carries the souls of plants, fungi, mosses, and others that grow from the earth. Over time, its true self is revealed to the soul; the seed of the Nightshade appears near the end of life and grows to overtake the soul until it is ripe for reaping. This process does not impart fear or worry, as flora across the world accept fate with grace and dignity.

Isekai Reaper

Carries souls from one plane to another, most often for some grander purpose or destiny. Occasionally, the soul is taken from a grand purpose to a more mundane (and relaxing) life. The stereotypical depiction is that of a bus which collides with the unexpecting being; it may also take the form of an unusually clean doorway/portal in a decrepit house, as a deep chasm surrounded by darkness, or as an unused and dusty wardrobe.

Aster

From fiery stars to icy comets, most large celestial bodies have a collective soul made up of the tinier souls of its inhabitants and components. These planetary souls may reconfigure or split when the celestial bodies collide, or even merge into (such as a sun engulfing an asteroid). When it is finally swallowed by a black hole, Aster is there to guide the soul to a new universe of peace and harmony, where entropy will never ruins its orbit.

Dusk Vulture

A psychopomp primarily caring for birds, insects, and other creatures capable of flight. Despite its massive size, it is silent as it descends upon the soul with a glittering black coat of feathers. Once it arrives, it sings a final song to the soul before taking it from the body; it is familiar to the soul as a call to return to the nest.

Reaper Reaper

The last psychopomp who will appear at the end of Time when all the others' work is complete. Very little is known about it, but it is speculated that the Reaper Reaper will gather them all in its arms for a comforting, eternal embrace.
