I've been told I'm a person

Human life is more important
than property values.
All human beings deserve to be treated like human beings, not just straight white cisgendered males born in the US or its allies.

from what i know, i think the order of operations is

  • thomas zane (tom) is tricked into freeing the dark presence and is sucked into the dark place
  • tom writes alan wake into existence to get him out
  • alan wake gets sucked into the dark place (alan wake 1)
  • alan writes himself into the events at the oldest house, to try and get the fbc to help rescue him (part of this is him writing the hiss mantra)
  • events of alan wake 2
  • i guess we'll find out more in control 2

so i think maybe the fbc, the hiss, etc. already existed, but he modified reality so they'd get tied up in his situation. but then, how did he know about the fbc or the oldest house at all?

you forgot the part where Alan then writes Tom into existence to get Alice out.

But yeah, I'm not saying that Alan wrote the FBC or the Hiss into existence. I'm saying that I think the Hiss and the Dark presence are the same thing. And as corollary, Polaris was the bright presence.

i think it would be a disappointingly narrow storytelling exercise to have the hiss be the dark presence.

if anything the dark presence moves like an astral spike. the lore around the former (and the board, tbh) gives me hope that remedy will keep the outside universe big, rather than cramming everything into one predictable recurring foe.
