OK I think I may have implied Starfield was like, good in a good-good way. Thus far Starfield is good in a "buying multiple oatmeal cream pies out of the vending machine" way.

Point being; when people say Bethesda wants fans to finish their games, it's not hyperbole. Maybe I'm old and jaded but these characters and some of these places are just like "hey I played Outer Worlds already"

It's very much Fallout 4 in space, but at least Fallout 4 had some scenery and lore to take from. Fallout has a direction and it actually goes somewhere with it.

Like, ok just spit balling something better here: so in LancerRPG a lot of humanity fled Earth in colony ships and after a few centuries the people still on earth tried to communicate with them again and were met with the sound of thousands of people crying for help and dying.

Imagine doing Starfield but in that. Trying to survive whatever the fuck happened there. The blinkspace technology going haywire and bringing in monsters or environmental hazards or whatever. You could also be fighting some now rogue AI under the influence of RA/MONIST-1. Or whatever fuckery they do. It could be literally anything.

but don't open the game with welp, welcome to our mostly perfect society, talk to those npc's to get a fetch quest and here's your space ship and your jet pack.
