Y'know sometimes I do still have a genuine fire inside me. A righteous indignation. A message, or rant or something but like, communication is so disparate now. If it's not surmised in a 4 second sound byte with shit going on in the background; who cares?

You can't just go on TV anymore. Talk shows are for failed comedians and dying media subsidiaries. Not a genuine message.

On the internet you'd be lost in a sea of 'takes', competing with political grifters and debate bros.

"Sticking your head in the sand" is just saving yourself the stress at this point. It may, quite literally be healthier for you.

Scene opens with the camera on a tall man [Karias] in late medieval armor; shield emblazoned with twining red and blue serpents; torchlight glinting off his mail. Two other figures can be seen with him - a child [Sammi] in a green tunic with a dagger at their hip and a woman [Elena] in a floor-length robe leaning on a wooden staff. They appear to be standing in a cave. The man is speaking into some kind of device, his voice echoing in the confined space.

Karias: The charges are set and we’re clear of the door. Whatever Nekraat and her servants were searching for down here will soon be in our hands.

Sammi: Or blown to smithereens!

The voice of a young man spills from the device; its sound tinny and slightly crackly as if heard over an old-fashioned radio.

Young man: Good news! And I’ve more good news - you know those inscriptions up here we’ve been trying to figure out?

The robed woman leans in attentively.

Elena: Have you deciphered them? Are they some form of portent?

Young man: Hells if I know. But Stephan and Keela have been working to crack it since you left camp and they’ve got something. I’ll put Stephan on.

Oh I forgot to add: I found a place that streams Serial Experiments Lain that has the text translated.

I'm not actually sure what the context there is though. In the first episode it seemed like inner monologue, but the second episode it's almost addressing the viewer?
