I've been reclaiming a lost bit of childhood joy this week playing my friend's new game, Snoozelings! It's a browser-based virtual plushie pet sim and wellness journal, and it just entered paid early access with plans to go FTP on release next year. You get to choose from three different kinds of daily journaling (Productivity, Mental Health, or Chronic Pain) with more coming soon, and you can export journals to save or bring to appointments. The gameplay is exceptionally cozy, and the site has a nostalgic slightly-retro 2000s forum-y vibe that I think would resonate well with a lot of folks here on cohost. Obviously it's still in development, so there are things being added and ironed out regularly. But the game as it stands is already fun to play, and does a great job of balancing gaming enjoyment with respecting your time and attention!

Besides the journaling aspect, there's farming, crafting, and exploration- but unlike many of the games you probably think of with those mechanics, everything is designed with the player's well-being in mind. That means no pay-to-win, no RNG lootboxes or time-limited items, minimal grinding, and truly flexible play. There's no imperative to use the game a certain way or maximize every resource, and no guilt/FOMO tactics. You can just have fun with what's there! There are also some really unique social elements, like the 'kindness-based economy' that rewards players for helping each other out, or the daily raffles of items (which everyone has equal access to) entirely donated by other players in the game.

If any of that sounds interesting to you, you can check the game out at https://snoozelings.com or read more about it at their tumblr! And as shown in the screenshot, my Snoozeling is Louver :eggbug-smile-hearts:
