i like snakes and a free palestine

aside from the aforementioned affection towards snakes, i also hold a great deal of fondness in my heart for hollow knight (i am extremely normal™ about collector), rain world (miros birds are the best creature i will not be accepting criticism on this), command and conquer red alert 2 (kirov reporting), in stars and time (one must imagine sisyphus stuck in a time loop), and about a million other things.
i played through slay the princess and spent the whole game pretty much completely ignoring her in favor of dicking around with the narrator (there is no good ending because the narrator always dies) and the voices (contrarian is the best one), which probably says a lot about me (i am aromantic asexual (this will not stop me from rebugging horny™ shit that i am tangentially interested in)).
fuck it i'm a girl now (still he/they tho)
i also like to draw and make games & shit.

so it's an fps game, inspired by the likes of dusk & quake & whatnot, and i've been making it in the godot engine.

at the moment there's not exactly a whole ton of fleshed out lore (shocker i know), but rn the basic outline i'm working with is that some big huge megacorp (working name Nargle Co) has managed to find their way into some sort of weird eldritch otherworld and has subsequently began engaging in mass-scale whaling of the resident eldritch gods for their various bits and whatnot.

currently, my plan is to have three episodes with 8 normal levels + 1 secret level each, for a total of 27 campaign missions.

right now, i've got 10 weapons implemented -- axe, shotgun, boomstick, akm, nailgun, plasma cannon, big iron, hunting rifle, crossbow, and rpg.

  • axe and shotgun are your two starting weapons, like in quake (although the axe hopefully won't suck as badly). the shotgun has an underbarrel grenade launcher.
  • boomstick is your good old ssg, with four times the pellets at the cost of taking forever to reload and having the accuracy one would expect from a videogame shotgun.
  • the akm is an akm. it does what you'd expect an akm to do.
  • the nailgun, on the other hand, is a bit weird. it fires nails (dear god who could've seen that coming) that stick into surfaces, and from there, they act like tiny shitty stickybombs.
  • big iron is the sniper rifle weapon. it is also a lever-action revolving rifle, a type of weapon that i swear exists.
  • plasma cannon fires non-gravitated projectiles with perfect accuracy, which might end up doing a bit of splash damage. its secondary fire is rocket launcher in all but name.
  • hunting rifle is a beggar's bazooka railgun. there is no upper limit to the number of shells that can be loaded at once (aside from the fact that it uses the second rarest ammo type in the game which you can only carry 15 of and are shared with the big iron).
  • crossbow is a slightly different beggar's bazooka railgun that shares ammo with the plasma cannon. hold click to charge, release to fire. damage and ammo cost are proportional to charge time.
  • the rpg is the one from half life. deals massive single-target damage, incredibly rare ammo, mostly reserved for bosses. secondary fire launches a volley of five smaller missiles using ammo from the shotgun grenade launcher.

i also have a variety of enemies planned, and even a few implemented, but i'll save those for some other time. i will, however, share one idea i have, mostly because i think it's funny.

so basically, one of the enemy types will be a giant spider. y'know, like the ones in damn near every single fucking game in existence.

except.

this spider.

won't attack the player unless provoked.

instead, it spends its time hunting eyeballs, the obligatory tiny flying projectile-vomiting nuisance enemies, using the harpoon gun it has instead of a spinneret.

i'll probably use it as something of an antepiece/foreshadowing before the player starts encountering actual threats with harpoon weaponry.

idk i just thought it'd be funny for the most stereotypical "monster" enemy in the entire game to be a completely passive non-threat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
