The Local Scene Showcase is a video highlighting local gamedev scenes all around the world. I believe local scenes are crucial to fostering independent art in every medium, especially providing support to creators who lack the resources (financial or social) to reach any audience at all.

There was no format for the showcase videos but participants were encouraged to focus on highlighting the activities and communities of their scene show this showcase would be about the people involved and not just another collection of video game footage. My hope is that, even in a small way, this video encourages to seek out, form, or even expand their own local gamedev scene.

I feel local scenes are an, or perhaps the, essential core of any artform and provide support and resources for people who would otherwise have none. Games can feel especially (and increasingly) top heavy and unapproachable. While games are not a monolith with one correct style, audience, peer group, etc., it can certainly feel that way to an outsider without strong local scenes! (and small press) People with no connections need an entry point they don't have to pay for!

There's also now a discord server for local scene organizers to chat if you are one of those!
