tried playing Ni no Kuni on PC Game Pass, but it was really weirdly buggy. All of the controls on the screen showed up as VK_SomeRandomNumber, and it was also making my computer chug for some reason. Really sucks cuz I really want to get into a JRPG, but this just isn't the one.

Ah well. It's really pretty though

So funny story, I actually met the creator of this game at GDC, and we had a really good talk together. So, I figured I should actually play their games. The first one that I tried out was this one, and it was an experience.

I don't really want to spoil the "plot" of the game, as it's really short (only like 5 minutes long I think), but it is essentially a playable music video. From what I could gather of the themes, it's about dealing with adversity and overcoming obstacles with the help of your friends. That's my read on it, anyway. It's definitely the closest I've come to play the game version of a "poem", in terms of how metaphorical it feels while still trying to stay try to the human experiences.

This was a cool game, but I DO have some minor nitpicks. It really sucks that there isn't some sort of title screen. When you load up the game, you get immediately put into the game itself and have to start playing. There isn't any pause menu either, so once it starts, you kinda just have to sit there and make sure you play the rest of the game, which kinda sucks.

But overall, I think this was a really cool project and shows what you can do if you decide to make something really really small, yet meaningful. I can't wait to try the other games from their catalogue!

This game is like a remake of the first level of Super Mario Bros. (NES) as a first-person shooter, except... Not really? Aesthetically, it is MUCH more inspired by something like Super Mario 3D Land/World, in terms of the amount of detail and how everything is designed.

It is really cleverly designed though. While the format of the level is very 1-1, there are a lot of hidden secrets to find. Also, instead of just placing random generic military man or Doomguy down into the game, you actually do play as Mario, and you're shooting out plungers. It's also really cool how all of the VFX are very modern Mario-eques. Overall, this was a really cool 5-minute experiment, and I'd recommend you all check it out!
