Selatet is, above all else, a world of jungles. Beneath its blankets of clouds, even far from the great seas, a tangle of bright red vegetation dominates the landscape. These jungles are fairly similar across the entire planet, with local species being the main variable- the thick atmosphere evens out planetary temperature so that even the "cold" of the antisolar point can host life native to the subsolar point, if not comfortably. Feather-leaved trees stand everywhere, strung together by wide networks of vines- lending some light to the vines to benefit from additional stability against the strong winds. Gliding is a near-universal tactic in the jungle, allowing more mobility than can even be acquired from clambering along the vines. Non-flying life is often restricted in size by the vines- they have to be avoided, for snapping them is often a bad idea.
In the skies, life reaches sizes nearly unheard of- Selatet is just heavy enough to capture a little extra helium, and that helium is put to good use in floating life. On Selatet, there truly are jungles of the upper air: alien rarefied forms glitter high above floaters large enough to capture entire miniature biomes on their backs. These facilitate further connection between widely-spread forests- in addition to themselves being mobile pockets of woods, they provide excellent perches for smaller fliers.
The seas are the one exception to the rule of jungles. Selatet's inland oceans are large, but they are generally rather deep: plants vanish quickly in the depths, giving way to a more standard predator-scavenger-decomposer ecosystem fed partly by dying floaters.
