Red dwarfs are patient- they'd practically have to be, wouldn't they? You can't handle a life that long without that capacity. When your planets are not only fully accreted, but well into their lifespans by the time you finally ignite... it's an odd experience, one larger stars often won't understand. Worse, red dwarfs often lack self-control- flares can wreck fragile atmospheres many times over before a red dwarf calms down. Even so much later, when the hydrogen begins to run low and that red shades towards blue- that stage exceeds the lifespan of many stars, an eerie mirror of the giant end stages common to the larger bodies. For a red dwarf, whose life may stretch to a span incomprehensible even to other stars, it is best to just sit back and watch.
