I have no idea why people like to talk down on the grocery chain Aldi. I feel most of it is people who have never used it or just view it as a discount grocery store and somehow that makes it bad. I mean, it's kind of a discount grocer, but the big appeal is just all the stuff I can't get anywhere else. The quality of a lot of the products feels a lot better as well. I've been using it for years and it's always fun taking a trip because you never quite know what they've got.

look if I need toothpaste I don't need 134234 versions of the same thing with the same ingredients, I just need one with fluoride that doesn't taste like ass.

Floor cleaner? I just want one that doesn't smell like ass.

Bread? You guessed it, I only care about it not being ass.

Please give me less options I don't want every grocery store trip to take up my entire afternoon.

Also Aldi brand snacks are extremely good.

The only problem I've had with Aldi (which might just be my local one) is the produce tending to go bad within a day or two. Fine if you plan to use it right away, but not so much if it might take a couple days to get to it. I used to shop there all the time because it was in walking distance, but now I'm on the other end of town where I can't walk to anything and Walmart is a closer drive. I don't even like Walmart, but it is sadly convenient.

They're also permanently understaffed and only have one lane open most of the time regardless of how busy it is, which seems weird when they're offering well above average pay for the area, and letting their cashiers SIT DOWN is a major benefit that I would think more people would want to take advantage of. It's possible this branch just thinks having a skeleton crew is fine, like the craft store I worked at, but they always seem to have job listings up. Weird.

Otherwise the reputation is purely the bougie view of The Poors. Same as the idea of buses being smelly and full of needles or whatever nonsense they've come up with this week.
