The ending to S/V made the game for me and really made me emotional. Like, the game is flawed, but damn, as someone who's played since he was a kid, it did end up feeling like a cathartic "This is what these games can be" in a way that's hard to explain.
It may also have to do with missing a lot of the middle Gens (I've played Gens 1-3, then the latest 2) but the jump from gen 3 to Sword was crazy. While Sword and Shield were also really flawed, they showed promise which really got me excited for Scarlet and Violet and I really wasn't disappointed. The jump from Sw/Sh to S/V had a similar feeling to jump between Gen 2 and Gen 3 where it felt like the games finally found their footing. Which is really exciting to see as someone who grew up with pokemon.

Area Zero feels really alien too, which is great. Good music, the research labs... it's just a good tone piece IMO, and the crystals are choice too.

Big agreement with your points here.
