weird frog found in creek won't stop croaking

I decided to go wandering off the beaten path today (for a different post, some other time) and by chance, the dirt road I took came very close to one of these transmission towers. I love seeing these guys along the side of the road and I never imagined getting to see one so close, so of course I pulled over to take pictures.

As soon as I got out of the car I could hear the crackling of electricity, which I really didn't expect and made me reconsider my plans to stand next to the tower for a size comparison :host-nervous: Like, it would probably have been fine, but I was happy to keep a respectable distance away from it. It was very nice to be apart from the rest of the world and just listen to the whistling wind and power cracks, though.

One of the places I grew up had a line of these going through the neighborhood, on this looooong stretch of cleared land. We played under them all the time, because it was nice and open. They had a definite hum. I don't think any of us were especially scared of them though.

that sounds so cool omg....... yeah idk I just was expecting like, no sound from the zappy tower and as soon as I heard cracks and pops I was like "oh okay these wires will fall 40 ft and kill me at any moment this entire tower is energized this is like a tesla coil from red alert" so i might just be paranoid actually
