(not publicdomaintreasures, but if useful - I put this image into tineye and it amusingly brought up this Alamy post which has a name in about a paragraph of French that might be useful
i had to go digging a bit, but i found it! this one's from a book called "Paris à table" and, bizarrely enough, it is the only little guy like that in the book! the rest seem to be all people. here's the extracted imgs on internet archive's flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/bookidgri33125010847511
