1. a couple days ago, a member of the 12-member girl group LOONA was fired, ostensibly for being abusive to staff behind the scenes
2. however, the agency that manages them has in fact not been doing a great job, has not been paying the group for like a year, and also they are maybe evading like the equivalent of $35mil USD in taxes
3. the member who was fired, chuu, happens to be like. INCREDIBLY beloved by fans and literally everyone she's worked with and testimony to the contrary starts pouring in. it also gets brought up that she had started her own company to manage her solo activities so that she'd have more control over her own work.
4. it also gets brought up that a lot of the girls in the group have been doing stuff like working/practicing while sick, are incredibly skinny, etc.—which is admittedly normal kpop girlgroup stuff but also sucks
5. several of the other members express solidarity, change their bio/pic to something expressing that loona is always 12 members, etc.
6. a couple days after the firing, 9 of the members file an injunction to sever their contracts. the other two have extenuating circumstances that make it harder to just do that (e.g., one is Chinese and in Korea on entertainment work visa)
7. the entire fanbase is mad as hell and is calling for the company to be investigated and for the group to be dissolved so that they can be free to pursue better work conditions
