  • Cora and Yulia watch the stars on their roof, and talk about the future, their home, and mortality. Yulia is comfortable with the idea of dying, while Cora can't stand the idea of losing her, so Yulia challenges Cora to prove her wrong and defy the inevitability of her death.

ARCADIA SHOPPING MONTAGE

This ritual begins when a group of friends and/or enemies descend upon the Arcadia Shopping District with the intent to go on a whirlwind of shopping and consumerist enjoyment.

Ritual Actions
During an Arcadia Shopping Montage you may take the following Ritual Actions; you may also choose, but are not required, to claim a :black~3: Ritual XP Action at any time.

  • Describe the sights and sounds of the Arcadia Shopping District, and how they make you feel
  • Describe an outfit you're trying on, and how you feel about it
  • Describe something you see in the window or store that you gotta try, or make your friends or enemies try
  • Watch someone else in the group, and narrate your feelings about them
  • Talk about a fun snack or street food you bought
  • Feel a strong emotion, and then try to cover it up with something else
  • Propose things your friends or enemies could be like or do, if they shook up their look a bit
  • invoke another Ritual or symbol of power as a combo move

This Ritual ends when the wallet runs dry, when you have more stuff than you can carry, or when you glance to the setting sun or rising moon and feel the pull of home.

  • We revisit the Arcadia Shopping Montage from season 1 as Ovida takes Queen Night and most everyone else she knows shopping for clothes. Cora considers the nature of her feelings on Queen Night and her victory over He, Death. Ovida reminds Mara of how they've changed since they did this with her and is ravenous for her and Night's attentions. Liza finds a new look and turns Cora onto some dark academic styles. Raya and Aspechka spend time together having fun. Mara attempts to put Queen Night in as many absurd and risque outfits as she can. Queen Night makes friends with local tsukumogami and builds a wardrobe while flirting with Ovida. Fancy donuts are had.
  • Theremin asks Nostalgia how to find Majesty, and they chat for a bit. Eventually, they ask Cora for help, and she comes over and summons Majesty into her body. Theremin really doesn't like this and invites Majesty into their own after some distrust on Majesty's part. They give it the olive branch/fragment from heaven they received from a drowned angel in the Outside and make peace with it. Nostalgia asks why Theremin didn't offer to use it as a vessel for Majesty, and they have an argument over consent versus the weapon-nature as Cora looks on with increasing concern.
  • Liza walks in on the prior scene and invites them to dinner with her parents and brother, so they help set up. She meets them at the front gate of the shrine, and they make their way in. After some initial surprise and confusion about the identity of Cora and Theremin, Liza fetches Basilisk and Aspechka and introduces them. Gifts are given, awkward thanks are received, and they sit down for dinner, to be continued next week.
  • Ovida informs Queen Night of her intention to visit Little Island and leave bluebells for He, Death, at Jade's temple. Queen Night agrees to help preserve the flowers and to come with her to the island. Ovida asks her to finish what she'd begun saying to her before Theremin interrupted them last week, about her nature. Queen Night explains:
As He, Death was dying, he tried to lay a curse upon the world- only it didn't come out right, and he got a daughter instead.
A world where the balance always gets its due, of fairness, is a beautiful and cruel thing- thus I am the promise of imperfection, the thumb on the scale, that all things may have the opportunity to contradict their nature1.
Ovida tells her that she will still love Cora, and Queen Night tells her to kiss her already.

  1. Queen Night may be understood as the principle of adharma- the defiance of the proper ordering of the world and the instabilities and flaws of the principle of balance advanced by Cora.
