More Leviticus! This section was mostly further discussion of the rules for sacrifices, with special attention to the rules governing what parts and when the priests may apportion and eat the sacrifices. This is all followed by Moses gathering the Israelites and performing a number of sacrifices as well as ordaining Aaron and his sons as priests. Not too exciting a chapter, but it does include some laws concerning kashrut, such as the prohibition on eating suet (we didn't realize that was a thing) and blood. Interestingly, per Rashi the blood of fish and locusts is not included in this
This section led us down a rabbit hole on the kosher rules for suet, substitutes (schmaltz), and a surprise guest appearance from Mary Douglas of Purity and Danger fame
Afterwards, we also discussed some trans interpretations of various Jewish figures that came up due to recent work from the Trans Halakah Project, during which we learned various cool and important facts about Rabbi Yochanan, universally agreed beauty and possible trans woman, such as how beautiful they were, that men thirsted for them, and how large their dick may have been
