"That's maybe the easiest one, you know? It's an afterlife. You're already dead, it can't happen again.
"The promises are special, though. Hell doesn't meddle. Hell is hands-off. The promises are the only nudges you get from... whatever forces drive this place.
"Just because you can't die means you won't feel some kinds of harm, stress, or pain. You hunger, but it'll never lead to starvation. You can get dehydrated, but not die of thirst.
"Bodily harm is where it gets considerably tougher. The worst you're going to walk away with is bruises, cuts, sprains, and so on. Even the extreme stuff. The worst you could expect from falling off a building are awful bruises and aches. Tooth, claw, and knife can only cut so deep; you'll bleed, maybe want for stitches, but you won't even have a scar even if you never get something to explicitly patch it up.
"A lot of folx have picked at how hurt and discomfort works in this place. If you want mine...
"A little discomfort is a reminder that you're still... alive. Keeps you moving. Keeps you from getting stagnant. Drives you to share unexpected moments with unexpected people.
"And you don't get relief without discomfort. That's something you can't forget."
