This is another ramble on our current understanding of our system / the product of our system work. To get this you should really check out the post about how colors work for us.
Thankfully, this one won't be as huge.
Repeating directly from the last post:
In almost all cases, people will have one color as a wellspring (the fundamental emotion of their origins and experience) and another as their filter (the lens through which they process the wellspring). Some people only have a wellspring and no filter; we call these people unfiltered or fundamentals. Some people only have a filter and no wellspring; we call these people filter-only.
Again, these are loose, but tend to align with any given someone's outlook and ethos.
Generally, you can understand these in an unrefined way as "wellspring lies beyond filter".
So like, let's grab someone here. We'll go with ๐ Mab.
Mab's wellspring is White, and her filter is Tan. So, with the short raw perspective: "lasting bad lies beyond control." This is still loose, and note really a clear picture of her as a person though.
Her outlook and origins make this a little more clear. Mab came to us in a moment of sheer, overworked stress breakdown in the gauntlet of trying to get @QuakeRoc through immigration. We're very prone to letting our own needs slip in order to try edging out more space to push things through, and unfortunately the selves-neglect led to a hard crash and a "slow the fuck down or you're going to work yourselves to death" moment.
So, more refined, you could take Mab's spark of White/Tan to be โNo matter how much pressure is on you, you need to not forget yourself in the mix.โ She's chill, she's calm, and she is probably the best of us at setting aside things when we have them done enough or need recharge to keep going.
Unfiltered people still work pretty similar to this, honestly. All you need to do is essentially repeat things.
And so: ๐ง River. She's unfiltered Blue. That's pure Joy, or "brief good lies beyond brief good" extended out. Through her, that becomes something like โSeek moments of happiness and enable others to do the same.โ
River is very much a ray of sunshine. She's incredibly good at arriving with just the help someone needed just when they needed it. She's direct, she's kind, and she's all but constantly plottin little happy surprises on people. She's very much a very refreshing and important presence with a lot of the hard times we've been going through. River slips by, creating little joyous flashpans of feeling where people feel seen and loved and can exalt in themselves.
So, yeah. The colors are abstract as hell and the filters and wellsprings too, but it's proved a good model for helping us find our strengths and weaknesses and support for each other. With time, we're sure this understanding will continue to evolve and change, of course.
But for now? It works and does us well.
