I love that Killer7 is a game with a massive amount of back story and cut content that you will not see while playing the game, but the events in the game still play out as if some of those cut story beats still took place. There's like one or two traces in the entire game that you're being manipulated by an FBI agent named Jaco Checkbox who has access to a machine that tries to predict the future... but its predictions are very unlikely at first, and future predictions only get more accurate if the previous thing it predicted comes true. And so Jaco is running around the world orchestrating those unlikely predictions to happen so the machine's accuracy at predicting the future gets better. What!!!

There's so much stuff like that in Killer7 that's only documented in the Hand of Killer7 book that was only ever published in Japanese. It's such a mysterious game and I love that it will stay that way.

what i love about hand of killer7 is that despite all of that its STILL not fully canon because half the shit in it will just directly contradict the story itself. but the game still clearly runs off it anyway and suda51 hasnt said a word about what is or isnt true

One of those cases where they had dozens of wild ideas, concepts, and themes they wanted to include and implemented almost all of them. There was so much I'd forgotten about until my playthrough last year

Killer Is Dead is not as well regarded as Killer7 for reasons that I can generally understand, but talking about this reminds me about how with that game, there's literally two different, contradictory explanations for how Mondo got his robot arm, where the implication in-game is that he was at some point attacked by his moon prince twin brother during breakfast and became infected with some kind of moon virus, but also interviews and surrounding media all claim and support each other that Mondo was literally on the US Seal team that killed Osama Bin Laden and he lost his arm to the literal Ganondorf Malice Miasma that dude apparently exploded into upon death.

Like, at some point I subscribed to the idea that the latter was a coverup for the former, but... actually, I think the idea is just, somehow these events Both took place, and both cost Mondo the same arm. I guess.

Suda51 is just like this. I believe he is like dogs in that he just sort of does things arbitrarily.

That's how all of Suda's games are. There's a chapter in the western release of The Silver Case (it's the final Placebo story) that doesn't make any sense unless you've already played Flower Sun and Rain, but is meant to be a bridge between The Silver Case and its direct sequel, The 25th Ward.
