is your feed moving too fast? wanna just catch up with you friends? here's a userscript to hide shares on your timeline!

steps to install:

install a userscripts browser extension such as tampermonkey
go to https://wowperfect.net/userscripts/cohost-hide-shares.user.js and click "install"
OPTIONAL: install cohost infinite scroll so you're not waiting for page loading as often

thank you to @mintexists and @easrng for getting it to work reliably! also this is built on borrowed code from @nex3 @cefqrn and @easrng so thxx to them too

plx use the comment section to report bugs

FIXED: some people were getting it only showing up half the time.
UPDATE: when people share their own posts they will no longer be hidden

either wait for it to update or go to the link again and click "reinstall"

maybe there's a race condition? sometimes it appears and sometimes it's not there. looks like maybe in flashes into existence and then goes away.

I suddenly started getting the race condition as well, try reinstalling it now and let me know if it's fixed...

reinstalled, it looks like the checkbox position has moved (so i assume changes happened) but still getting the issue unfortunately v_v

yes!!! it is SUPER HIDDEN because cohost draws from your system settings LOL ☠️ umm, assuming you are on Windows... right click Desktop -> Personalize -> Colors on left side, and then change "Choose your default app mode" and you should see cohost's colors react immediately

I did a local fix for that using sessionStorage.getItem/setItem. It onlyy adds a handful of line but I can share that somehow if that saves anybody time; though my userscript knowledge is super thin so it might be janky.

I could give it a look if you want, I found it was pretty unreliable because of varied loading behavior between different kinds of navigation

Thank you for making this a toggle at the top of the page!! I don't always want to hide shares, so it's super nice to be able to turn it on and off without messing with my extension settings.

First off, huge thanks for making this, pretty much the main gripe i had with the feed

Just one bug report though, it currently seems to only hide posts when im on the first page of the dashboard? As soon as I switch to previous pages the toggle stops hiding anything. Can try provide details if needed. (if this is like, still supported, obviously)

I think i figured it out, the #live-dashboard id just disappears on /rc/dashboard pages? Tweaked the queryselectors a bit: https://pastebin.com/ZxQxVRwu this way of doing it probably sucks but this seems to work
