I write about cars for a living and I take photographs to stay alive. Expect to see a lot of photography here.

sometimes I post nsfw images of my body. I tag them as adult content, but this is not a purely professional account - this is where I am myself.

US-50, between Fallon (pop 9325) and Middlegate (pop 17). These roads demarcate the northernmost and westernmost edges of the US Naval Test Range, where the Top Gun program is held. about 15 miles north of here is a ghost town I've visited called La Plata, where there is a single marble marker and some stone walls where the courthouse once was; five miles southwest is the Project Shoal nuclear test site. twenty miles south is a massive flats between Fallon and Hawthorne that works as a cut-through; it's also absurdly dark, with broad horizons, and I stargazed there. about seven miles due East is Fairview Peak, which I climbed this summer.

now that I think about it, this was almost my NV (0,0).

Your photos always make me so nostalgic for the time when I lived in the high desert. Even in a fairly dense area like I lived in, the desert can be so lonely after a very short drive, but everywhere you go you find the remains of someone else's attempt to build a life out there, to make it work. Abandoned cars and buildings, plots where things would have been but were never built, lots parceled out and for sale forever, in a big dry bowl where life thrives in its own way and ignores us. Stars at night, a glow in the horizon.

I miss it.

the high desert will always be my favorite place because it has the overwhelming feeling of the power of nature encapsulated in every shattered window and every empty building. we can't conquer this, and I'm so thankful we can't, so there's always a place I can find peace
