This is in Idaho Falls, the terminus of my travels yesterday. I saw this building twice as I drove around running errands, and each time I thought: Damn, I should shoot that.
I told myself if I saw it a third time, I had to try to get a photograph of it, because I believe if something stands out enough I can imagine getting a shot from it more than once, I need to take the shot. My only problem was that the light, as you can tell, was extremely flat.
I say frequently that Hermaphroditus - the Greek mythological trans woman often said in Western literature to be the "goddess of hermaphrodites and effeminates" - watches over me for my inexplicable good luck in two matters that I have no control over: my flights leaving on time and good lighting during my photo expeditions.
The light never changed yesterday - it stayed gray, overcast, with maybe two miles of visibility all day. I thought to myself as I drove through the haze of Idaho Falls: hmm, maybe she's taking the day off. I drove past this building a third time, the light unchanged, and duly took my photograph anyway; still have to hold up my end of the bargain.
I got home to edit my pictures, and I realized she held up her end, too.
