honestly imgur was doomed from the moment they decided the way they become financially stable was to become a reddit clone, a form of interaction nobody wanted, instead of a cdn service, which is what people already used their site for
nobody has ever thought "i am going to go look directly at imgur.com on purpose". the only story ive seen of someone having an interaction with the "imgur community" is when they accidentally uploaded a selfie as if it were a post to imgur's community, and not as an image uploaded to an image host (a distinction that is impossible to discern in the moment on image hosting website, imgur) and got called ugly and downvoted below the threshold
i do not believe anyone has ever been an "imgurian" - but i suppose i also refused to believe people used 9gag too
