man. gen xers are fucking weird. i know in a lot of ways the generational culture gap is a fake idea meant to distract from class consciousness, but also i feel like theres just a level of insanity there. when i was 14, i was stopped repeatedly from buying the classic red chucks i wanted, because my parents were genuinely afraid that if i wore them without being a totally rad skater dude, i was going to get my shit kicked in. like. they relate to john hughes movies, and dont see them as abjectly horrifying. its fucked up. what is wrong with them.

i did get my shit kicked in btw, it was just unrelated. it was for other reasons.
