missed an opportunity for an "identify friend/foe" gag
Thank you for this important PSA. My personal favorite file format is "MPreg 3rd edition" (.mp3)
I've been pronouncing .dmg as "damage" since high school and I've pissed off a surprisingly large number of people in the process.
yeah idk if i've ever once called a dmg file a disk image file lol
I know someone who pronounces it "dimage" and it just sounds so silly every time
and here i thought html stood for hypertext markup lotion. gotta get that smooth moisturized website
NOWADAYS .cc means "Computer Computer," sure. But for a while in the early 00s, it stood for CueCat. I think it was an image format that could only store barcodes.
it's funny how you included .ts as the only correct one
also, .tex - Text .so - Significant Other .psd - Portable Spreadsheet Database .xcf - Extra Compressed File
.bin - where the file goes because it's not important
unless it's a cue/bin pair in which case you're gonna use that pool .cue to hit the file into the .bin when you're done with it.
i always forget the many new image formats adobe introduced with photoshop 4! if you need a refresher:
.png – Photoshop (No Gradients).ppt – Photoshop (Professionally Typeset).pdf – Photoshop (Damaged File)This post contains misinformation, .ttf actually stands for Text To Fpeech! Very common mistake to be fair
it's a little known fact but this actually originates from 17th century computers needing to support the long S in filenames! that functionality has fallen by the wayside these days but the extension has stayed the same for backwards compatibility reasons
Since GNU is usually pronounced with a hard G I'm stealing this for my excuse of pronouncing GIF the correct way
.png - Pretty Nice Graphic
.wma - why make audio?
.js - Javascript Script
.java - Coffee code - do not change or be doomed to a teapot forever.
.jar - A JAR OF COOKIES!
.cs - Computer Science
.cpp - I Don't Know If I Can Legally Describe This One(tm)
